Gary DeHart, of White Lake, died Sunday, July 7, 2019, at home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 70 years old. He was born on May 6, 1949, at home in the town of Evergreen a son of Acie and Iva (Whitt) DeHart. He married Wendy Smith on June 26, 1971, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Polar. She survives.
He was a graduate of White Lake High School, class of 1967.
He worked in the woods logging with his father as a young man. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 having been in Viet Nam for 13 months working in medical maintenance and supply.
Following military service he returned to White Lake where he operated the Standard Service gas station.
He returned to logging in 1974. Gary owned and operated DeHart Forest Products for over 40 years.
He was a member of the Anderson-Sather American Legion Post #524, White Lake, and served on the White Lake Board of Education in the 1980's.
He enjoyed playing music with friends and family which led to forming Gary's Basement Band.
He was an avid outdoorsman active in hunting, riding his four-wheeler and spending time with his grandchildren, and two great-great-nieces.
He enjoyed shooting guns competitively which led to him building a shooting range on his property. He took pride in teaching gun safety and sharing his shooting range with family and friends.
Survivors including his wife are a son, William DeHart, Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters, Susan (Todd) Borgwardt, Valders, Debby (Matthew) Powell, Horicon; three grandchildren Bennett and Sierra Borgwardt, Rylan Powell;
two great-great-nieces Kylie and Ashley Bechtold; a niece and two nephews who lived with Gary after the passing of their mother Eileen, Valorie Thivierge, Kenny Brown, Dale (Lois) Brown;
three brothers, James "Porky" DeHart, White Lake, Troy (Tammy) DeHart, Antigo, Lyle (Mary) DeHart, Elton; two sisters-in-law, Patricia DeHart, White Lake, Caroline DeHart, White Lake;
his wife's siblings, Debra (Earl) Budd, Mountain, Jeff (Jean) Smith, Green Bay, Rick (Cheryl) Smith, Mountain, Clay (Chrissy) Smith, Mountain, Patrick (Jeni) O'Brien, Mountain; step-father-in-law, Michael (Linda) O'Brien, Argonne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Orville, LaVern and William DeHart; a sister, Eileen Brown; mother-in-law, Patricia O'Brien; father-in-law, Charles Smith; a brother-in-law Gary Smith.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Four Corners Assembly of God Church, White Lake with Rev. Marvin Kindle officiating. Burial will take place in Langlade Cemetery, town of Wolf River where the White Lake Veterans will conduct military honors.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home and Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.

He was more of a brother than a cousin with my older brothers and it was a privilege to be in their company over the years. It will never be close to the same without him seated at our family poker games. His laugh was infectious. Although I'm sure it was there at times, but I never saw him angry, judgmental of others, just a kind spirit. A harder working man you will have great difficulty finding. It was very evident his love of family was a bottomless well. And finally, he is one of my heroes, someone I admired and respected. All of us will follow him, but few of us will leave a better legacy of family & love as did my cousin Gary..."
