A funeral Mass for Donald Lappe will be held on Tuesday, July 16th at 10:30 AM at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft. Inurnment will take place in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Bancroft. His family will greet friends one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to North Iowa Hospice, in memory of Don.
Donald Henry Lappe was born December 30, 1947, in Estherville, son of Lawrence and Matilda Lappe. He attended St. John's Catholic School graduating in 1966. Don was married to Marilyn Priester on January 13, 1968. They raised four children, Scott, Cynthia, Michael, and Christopher.
In earlier years, Don worked road construction and also worked at St. Ann's Hospital in Algona. From 1972 to 1977, he drove truck for Marty McGuire and then owned his own over the road truck. In 1986 he and his wife started D & M Transport, Inc. out of Olathe, KS until retiring in 2010. Don enjoyed being with his family, camping, and traveling the countryside in his RV.
Donald H. Lappe died Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at the North Iowa Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. He was 71.
He is survived by three children, Scott Lappe of Topeka, KS, Cynthia (Wayne) Scott of Olsburg, KS, and Christopher Lappe of Port Charlotte, FL; two grandsons, Jaxson and Quentin Lappe; his ex-wife Marilyn Lappe of Topeka, KS; two brothers, Robert (Luella) Lappe of Lake Mills, and Duane (Penny) Lappe of Leland; a sister, Diane (Jim) Hutchison of Overton, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Michael Lappe; and a sister Barbara (Mrs. Marty) McGuire.
