Max Leon Kain
June 7, 1933 - July 13, 2019

Max Leon Kain, age 86 of Prairie City, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Accura Healthcare of Baxter. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation for Max will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Prairie City Ambulance, Jasper County Animal Rescue League or the Pleasant Hill Community Building Fund. The son of Earl Lloyd and Marguerite (Dubs) Kain, Max was born on June 7, 1933 in Percy, Iowa. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1951. On October 13, 1955, he was united in marriage to Beverly Joan Trager in Prairie City. Max served in the United States Army. Following his time in the military, Max came back home and farmed. He was a member of the Prairie City Odd Fellows, Monroe American Legion and the Pleasant Hill Community Club. He enjoyed playing cards, tinkering, caring for animals and spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, John (Lora) Kain and Joan (Mike) Stein; five grandchildren, Lucas Kain, Jacob (Miranda) Stein, Jordan Stein, Kelsey Kain, and Lindsey Kain; a great grandson, Liam; a sister, Sandra (Larry) Harsin; sister-in-law, Pam (Terry) Harvey and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Max in death were his parents, wife, Bev in 2017, a son, Jim Kain in 1999 and two brothers, Hollis Kain and Jean Kain.
