Larry Wayne Harris
June 12, 1928 - July 17, 2019

North English- Larry Wayne Harris was born June 12, 1928 in North English, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Helen (Troutman) Harris. He attended Millersburg High School and served in the United States Navy. On September 3, 1949 Larry was united in marriage to Helen Joan Churchill in North English. He was a life long farmer and resident of the North English community. Larry was a member of the North English Christian Church. The only thing he loved more than the land, was his family. Larry passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 91 years.

He is survived by his wife Joan of North English; a son John (Gelene) Harris of Muscatine; 3 daughters Linda (John) Hester of Lone Tree, Nancy (Denny) Achenbach of North English and Mary (Lester) Ott of Swisher; 12 grandchildren Timothy Harris, Nicholas (Jen) Harris, Joseph (Autumn) Harris, Angie Hester, Shelly (Keith Rozsell) Martin, Kelly (Rick Howell) Hester, Jody (Dave) Richards, Spencer (Brooke) Achenbach, Drew (Andrea) Achenbach, Todd (Christin) Achenbach, JoAnna (Jon) Brown and Lee (Nikki) Ott; 28 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandson; and 2 sisters Carma Septer of Tiffin and Mary Ann Fuller of Keswick. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jerry Harris.

A graveside memorial service will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the North English Cemetery. Pastor Fred Woolsey will officiate. Powell Funeral Home in North English is in charge of services. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com

"Joan and your extended family. I am so sorry to hear of Larry?s passing. He was a great friend and always good for a laugh. On the rare opportunities that I was able to see he we happily reminisced about fun times from years ago. He always brought up the night we all wen to a dance at Armar ballroom in Cedar Rapids and the having fun with Toe and Larry F. Those memories will stick forever. "I'm so sad to hear of Larry's passing. He was such a great guy. I'll never forget his voice calling through the door early, early in the morning at Mom and Dad's asking if the coffee pot was on.
