Marie Carida Adolphe died on July 16, 2019 in New York following a brief illness. She was 83.
She leaves her eight (8) children, Jean Gracia Coq and his wife Dany Dugue; Lamartine Jr. Coq and his wife Agathe Jacques; Antoine Charles Coq; Joseph Georges Coq and his wife Bettina Bloncourt; François René Coq and his wife Alberthe Antoine; Marc Coq and his wife Joelle Jean-Noel, Vincent Michel Coq and his wife Joanne Dorcent, Marie Carmelle Coq-Latortue and her husband Jean W. Latortue, and her other daughters-in laws Margarette Medina, Emilie Philippe-Auguste and Gracita Marcellus.
She also leaves her grandchildren, Steeven and Andy Thierry Coq, McGuyvtini, his wife Ange and his two sisters Christina Coq and Rosario Lormil, Bilardy Vainqueur Jean, Catherine Coq, David, Garcia, Bethgeanna, and Jaydan Coq, Alvan and Randolph Coq, Kendrick and Arielle Coq, William and Darrenae, Daliana Latortue and many other spiritual children, especially Chrismène Alexis; her sisters Odette Brutus, Frizélia Guerlande Laporte, Frank Augustin; her sister-in-law Monique Brutus; and her many cherished friends.
She devoted her life to transmitting the knowledge to the next generation as an experienced teacher for over 40 years. She also taught Psychology, Pedagogy and other related matters. Her students and colleagues loved her as a School Director and Inspector. Her hometown wholeheartedly accepted and enjoyed her as an Animatrice de Sport, the Vice-President of the Women's Club, and the President of the Mother's Club.
Born and raised in Gonaives, Haiti, the daughter of Dr. Charles Brutus and Catherine Adolphe, she decided to reside in New York in the 1990s. She was a local and strong supporter of the Pierre Toussaint Cause in Ulster County. She relished all the friends she had made in Haiti, the United States, and Canada.
Marie Carida Adolphe enjoyed reading the Bible, singing in four languages, cooking, socializing. As a former ballerina, she loved Dancing with the Stars.
Friends will have the opportunity to pay their last tribute to our beloved Star. The wake will be held on July 26, 2019 from 5:30PM to 8:30PM at Keyser Funeral Home, 326 Albany Ave, Kingston, New York. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on July 27, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, 242 Wall St., Kingston, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes a donation to Marie Carida Adolphe Trust in form of a certified check or money order to the funeral home. The family plans to set up a Scholarship Fund to maintain her legacy.
