MUSCATINE, Iowa - Maxine Lucille Ewald, 81, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Mulford Evangelical Free Church. Reverend Brandon Nygaard will officiate. A time of food and fellowship will take place after the service at the church. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

Visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the church. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Shelly Meyn. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com


Maxine was born on March 6, 1938, the daughter of Herman and Lucille Greer Suhl. She married Roger C. Ewald on December 8, 1956 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2002.

She retired from JC Penney's and was a member of the Mulford Evangelical Free Church.

Maxine enjoyed playing games and cards. Her family was everything to her.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Jackie Feret and husband, Mike, of Mundelein, Illinois, Shelly Meyn and husband, Myron, of Muscatine, and Lynette Morton and husband, Chris, of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Dustin Meyn and wife, Kelly, Kelsey Meyn, Elizabeth Morton, and DaLayne Miller; one great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Meyn; one brother Donald Suhl and wife, Bev, of Muscatine; and two sisters, LuAnn Albertsen of Pheonix, Arizona, and Chris Jaenicke and husband, Dick, of Otsego, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Roger.
