Max instantly became my friend at the beginning of high school when we both were struggling to figure out who we were and what ?group? we fit in. Funny enough, neither of us ever belonged to a ?group.? It didn?t matter though ? Max?s outgoing, effervescent personality was magnetic, and he was friends with everyone. Max was unapologetically himself and he truly marched to the beat of his own drum. His passion and love for life was infectious as his friend and teammate. He once wrote me a postcard from Africa ? in big bold capital letters it said, ?WHAT UP? FROM AFRICA!!!? I held onto this post card for 10+ years because it captured so perfectly who he was. I?m sad to say we went our separate ways after high school, but I knew who Max was at his core. I had hopes of reconnecting with Max again someday and sharing the postcard with him, and the reasons why I held onto it for so long. Max ? Thank you for being my friend and sharing your view of the world. Parts of you make me who I am today. We miss you buddy. "
