She completed seven weeks of rehabilitation and came home to her son, Meleck in Plantation.
Emma never fully recovered from the fractured hip. She lost the ability to walk on her own. She was later diagnosed with dementia. Through it all Emma was always in high spirits. She always smiled and would say a few words when family came to visit her. She always appreciated family visits and the love and affection everyone gave her.
On July 24, 2019, Emma's son, Meleck spent time with his mother, fed her her last meal and prepared his mother for bed. In the early morning of July 25, 2019, Emma Joseph passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 102 years old.
