Doris Womeldorff, 94, formerly of McCallsburg, Iowa passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Zearing Health Care Center. Visitation will be held at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Zearing, Iowa on Monday, August 5, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Zearing on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing, Iowa.
Doris Jean Marie was born in rural Marshall County on October 13, 1924 to David and Agnes (Lyons) Tucker. She attended country schools growing up and graduated from Liberty Township School in 1943. Following school, Doris helped raise her sisters until she married Curtis Womeldorff on April 4, 1945. The couple then relocated to a farm in McCallsburg where they began farming and raising their family together there. Their farm was also a great entertainment spot for family and friends to socialize. Doris always thought there was no food in the house but next thing you know a three course meal was served. She was the caregiver and friend to so many. Doris belonged to St. Gabriel's Catholic Church where she was extremely devoted to serving Christ and her fellow parishioners. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, baking, sewing, quilting, crafts of any kind, and entertaining at her home. Doris was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend that will be greatly missed by many.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her children Barb (Ron) Duns of Hubbard, IA, and Jim (Sheri) Womeldorff of Zearing, IA; grandchildren Cory (Dani) Duns of Hubbard, IA, Darci (Cory) Hodnefield of Jacksonville, NC, Monica (Jerome) Aragon of Canyon, TX, and Bret (Amy Hiett) Womeldorff of McCallsburg, IA; great-grandchildren Seth, Sadie, Zoey, Owen, Kiley, Braelyn, Cade, Logan, Ethan, Jackson, Kaitlyn, and Jocelyn; great-great-grandchildren Haddie, and Ella; sister Myrna (Kent) Boom; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters Donna (Albert) Hendrick, and Mary (Ed) Faris.
