Dennis Gregory Hunt passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, August 2, 2019, with the love of his family surrounding him.
Dennis was born in East Detroit, Michigan in 1943 to Carl and Marie. After high school, he joined and proudly served in the Navy. Once he was discharged, he began working with his father at the family car dealership and later became a salesman.
Dennis followed his passion for business where he started his first marina in Mt. Clemens, MI. Following many successful years in Michigan, he moved to Florida and continued his long and distinguished career in the marine industry.
Boats weren't his only passion. He loved people. He loved being around people. He was compassionate. He was understanding, yet firm. As a result, he started many different businesses and restaurants throughout his career. It wasn't the food. He certainly wasn't a foodie. It wasn't the booze. He wasn't a drinker. It was the people. Talking with people, learning what inspired them. Using all that knowledge to do his best to provide them with a spectacular dining/business/personal experience.
Although Dennis set his roots in South Florida, he had friends and family throughout Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Canada and Europe. Well-traveled and always willing to take on a new adventure, he had an amazing life.
He will be missed by his wife, Yvonne; sister, Mary-Sue; children, Daniel (wife Lise), Randall (wife Pamela) & Ryan Flynn; grandchildren, Paige, Jennifer, Drew, Brittany, R.J. and Mackenzie; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Marie; brother, Gerald; sister, Carolyn Hess, and son Brian.
A Celebration of Dennis's Life will begin with a visitation Thursday, August 8th, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm @ Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services located at 4650 N Federal Hwy, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064. Service will be held on Friday, August 9th, at 9:30 am @ St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church located at 2700 NE 36th St, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064 followed by burial service @ Boca Raton Mausoleum located at 451 SW 4th Ave, Boca Raton, FL 33432.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung or Heart Association.
