Memorials: Directed to the family

Judy Ann Lundvall, 60, of Red Oak, IA, formerly of Malvern, IA, passed away on August 2, 2019 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

Judy was born on January 12, 1959 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Bernice (Smith) Taladay. She grew up in the Shenandoah area where she attended school. Judy had worked in housekeeping in a nursing home.

Judy and Carl Lee Lundvall were married on October 18, 2008 in Malvern, Iowa. They made their home on his farm north of Malvern. In 2016, the couple moved to live in Red Oak.

Judy was a simple, "salt of the earth" type person. She sold Avon products and enjoyed shopping, attending Keith Urban concerts, and adding great finds to her many collections of Boyds Bears, dachshund dogs, and other figurines. As her family and friends knew, purple was her favorite color. She and Carl attended area auctions so much, they had permanent auction numbers. Judy absolutely loved Christmas. She also loved spending time with her family, who were her pride and joy. Judy was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mom and grandma, who was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Judy and Carl were married almost 10 years when Carl died on October 5, 2018. In addition to her beloved husband Carl, Judy was preceded in death by her parents.

Judy is survived by her children, Patty (Larry) Dalton of Council Bluffs, IA, John Hammers, Jr. of Glenwood, IA, Chris (Keli) Hammers of Des Moines, IA, Norma Hammers of Council Bluffs, and Charlie (Katie) Pevehouse of Rochester, MN; Carl's children, Lisa (Ivan) Green of Omaha, NE, and Mike Lundvall of Malvern; grandchildren, Chyenna, Josh, Ivy, Aubrey, Chase and Carter; sister Betty Taladay of Clarinda, IA; mother-in-law Betty Lundvall of Glenwood, IA; in-laws, Jim (Judy) Lundvall of Pacific Junction, IA, Bill (Barb) Lundvall of Malvern, Jane (Charlie) Steffensmeier of Burlington, IA, Linda (John) Fisher of Texas, and Bruce (Phyllis) Lundvall of Missouri; extended relatives; and a host of special friends.

"Judy was such a special lady. I met her about 5 years ago when I became Carl's insurance agent. I have watched Judy adore Carl when he was on the farm, as they sold the farm, and when they moved to Red Oak and she took care of him when he was sick. So many times I would ask Judy..."How are YOU doing?" A couple times she broke down and cried, but would never think to have anyone else take care of him. She was so excited a couple weeks ago to go to the Chris Stapleton concert. She showed me her new shirt and was excited to wear it and relax a little and have a good weekend with Patty. I am so glad she was able to go to that concert!! She will be missed by so many. She loved her family so much! I will miss my visits with her. I am sure she is happier now than she has ever been...she is back with the love of her life, Carl. Thank you Judy for all the good conversations and all the times you had nice things to say to me. I will never forget you. May she rest in peace. "

Annette Williams, RN wrote on Aug 5, 2019:

"I met Judy when I became Carl's Home Health Nurse. Judy was a devoted wife to Carl and she took great care of him. I always enjoyed coming out to see Judy and Carl. She was a kind and caring woman and she loved her husband and family. I was shocked when I heard the announcement of her death on local Red Oak radio. The only consolation I can find in learning of Carl's and Judy's deaths is they are together again. My sincere sympathy to the family. I pray God's Grace and Mercy will comfort and keep you. Sincerely, Annette. "

John Hammers wrote on Aug 4, 2019:

"My mom was one of the most beautiful gentle souls to have ever graced this planet. Her determined steadfastness to persevere and thrive, no matter what life threw at her, had no bounds. I can still so very vividly hear her voice; something i want to never fade. Even if sometimes it's the sound of her motherly scolding: "John Russell, you stop that." The world will forever be less now without the smile she would occasionally let slip out from behind her hand when she found something extra amusing. How do you put into words the emotions that are falling from my eyes and catching in my throat, making it hard to breath, as i write this? The impossibility of putting into words how much i miss this angel i was blessed to call mom for almost 40 years is apparent. I miss you so much mom. There is a mom size hole in my heart that aches to give you one last hug and a kiss on the cheek. Thank you for always being there for me, even when i didn't deserve it."
