Caitlin was born on July 28, 1988, to Brenda (Ward) Akers and David Lutes in Iowa City, IA. Caitlin grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, Indiana, before relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina, to pursue her passion and a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management, with a minor in Business, from East Carolina University.
Caitlin was a caring and giving person who loved to laugh out loud. She had the most beautiful, contagious smile that could light up your day. Her work ethic was unparalleled - she enjoyed growing her career through Hilton Hotels while starting her own award-winning Mary Kay business, where she recently earned 2nd place in top sales. Caitlin had a passion for music - whether she was attending a concert or listening to music in the car, she was always belting the words to every song - and she could be seen dancing the night away at any event. Caitlin fiercely loved animals, especially her fur babies Tyson, Turbo and Lemmie. She was funny, charismatic and not afraid to laugh at herself, but she was also introspective and knew herself well. We will always remember Caitlin for her positive energy, kind heart and caring spirit. She was a bright light to every person she encountered, and her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.
When you think of Caitlin, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Her spirit lives on in her family and friends, who she loved whole-heartedly.

Caitlin is survived by her mother, Brenda Akers; father and step-mother, David and Mary Lutes; paternal grandparents, Don and Audrey Lutes; maternal grandparents, David and Goldie Parsons; sister and brother-in-law, Megan and CJ Carroll; step-brothers Daniel (Sarah) Akers and Jason Akers; boyfriend, Emmett Rittenour; aunts and uncles, Cindy and Tom Flaten, Diane and Wayne Ament, Roger Lutes, and Patricia Nilan; and cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Erin Marie Lutes; uncles, Jeff Tanner and Jerry Lutes; and stepfather, Thomas Akers.

To honor Caitlin's memory, memorial contributions to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsĀ® at www.ASPCA.org would be appreciated.
