"I worked with Reuben at Habitat for Humanity of Jasper County where he was a Board member known for his selfless giving to anyone in need. I also remember him for climbing way way up his barn to put the Christmas star out for everyone to enjoy. Maybe someone could say how high he climbed and how old the last time he did that? It was simply amazing!! What a wonderful man, he made us smile, and so many people enjoyed his company. Thinking of all the Steenhoek clan, peace to you all. "

"Reuben was a tough hombre. I saw him get kicked several times at the barn. One time, however a Charolais cow plastered him against the fence. He got back up and finished the day. He was one hard worker. Bob Heemsbergen "
