Babette "Babs" Schultz was born on May 17th, 1923 in Chicago, Ill to Ezra and Hattie (Kahn) Cohn. Babs lived most of her life in Chicago. Babs loved reading, bowling, I Love Lucy, Chinese food, chocolate, card games, mahjong, going out to lunch with friends and spending time with family. She especially loved spending time with her sister Marj. Babs took pride in her collection of pigs. Babs had an incredible sense of humor which was visible in her "friends" in the form of figurines and stuff animals, most popular being Boomer (the naughty pig), Jerry (Giraffe), Sweetie Pie (bear) and Boobie (breast cancer awareness bear she got after losing her sister Marj to breast cancer).
At age ninety Babs moved to Wisconsin to be closer to family and continued to enjoy her favorite things, playing cards any moment she could and she even learned the game Hand & Foot at age 95! She was delighted when her favorite Chicago hot dog joint, Portillo's, recently opened in Madison.
Babs was a proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was an amazing friend to so many over the years including special friends Marianne, Ester, Helene and Myra.
Babs is survived by her daughter Barbara Larson and son James Ehlers (Mary Michalski); granddaughter Julie Larson, grandson Rob (Lori) Larson; great grandchildren Nikki (Frankie) Woppert, Sammy Brown, Max Brown, Cassie Larson, Denzel Bailey, Dayna Bailey; great-great grandchildren Nevaeh Powell, Chevy Coffey, Franklin Woppert; and many nieces and nephews.
Babs was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ed Schultz; her sisters Dorothy Sugar & Marjorie Keller; brother-in-laws Oscar Sugar and Marvin Keller; son-in-law Chuck Larson; and her sweet great niece Janna Sugar.
Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Agrace for their loving support & care for Babs and her family during her final weeks of life.
