Duane Donald Schmitt, 83, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, August 9, 2019, at the Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton. Duane was born November 20, 1935, on a farm near Beeds Lake, in Franklin County, Iowa, to Walter R. and Vera L. (Freie) Schmitt.

Duane attended Hampton High School in Hampton. He was united in marriage to Dixie Ann Mason on October 8, 1955, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton.
