"To Marc's family and Dad Paul, I met Marc in 1993 in Baltimore and we were friends ever since. He became a soulmate in many ways then and we had a great deal of fun in our Baltimore days -- perhaps a bit too much fun! I ended up settling in Chicago and he in Houston but our bound was strong. I was always impressed with how much he loved and worshiped his entire family. I also especially loved his southern, "old man" spirit -- so loving of everyone. I just found out today about his passing (I was in Africa at the time) and am in shock. I know he is now resting in peace. I'd love to hear from Dad Paul: calvinranch@hotmail.com"

"I was shocked to learn of Marcus passing he told me over the last few years of his health struggles, but never one to burden others not how serious they were. What I do know is that Marcus loved his Haynes & Browder family equally and y'all were his world. I feel like I know most of y'all, but y'all don't know me. I've know Marcus for over 35 years when we met at KFC, he always talked about his "Tete", Qua, his "twin", Monica, and to many to name. I affectionately called him my "baby daddy", he will always hold a special place in my heart. Much love to you all for sharing Marcus with so many who loved him! My prayers are with you all. "

"I worked with Marcus on and off for almost ten years, but he was much more than a coworker to me. He was my friend and sometimes he even acted like he was my big brother. He always looked out for me, as he would for anyone he knew. No matter how long in between seeing each other, we always greeted each other with a hug and picked up right where we left off. I always loved to hear Marcus tell stories and how he would get so excited and animated. Just talking to him on the phone would make me smile because you could hear in his voice when he was smiling. My condolences to his family and friends. You have all been in my thoughts and prayers."

Marc always gave a witty response to things that either made you wiser or made you laugh out loud (at myself.) I will miss his strong presence and loving text messages that would come perfectly timed. Your spirit lives on in my heart forever, my nephew. Love, "Auntie" "
