Mildred Mae Woodsmall, 92, of Burlington, died Monday, August 12, 2019 at her son Doug's home in Burlington. She was born April 17, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant to Walter B. and Etta B. Foster Milks. On August 6, 1945, she married Denzel LeRoy "Ike" Woodsmall in Mt. Pleasant; he died November 1, 1997.
She attended Mt. Pleasant schools and was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, traveling on bus trips, visiting Florida and spending time with her grandchildren. For the last sixteen years, Mildred made her home with Doug and Cyndy where her daughter, Glenda and her two granddaughters, Faith and Elizabeth, who she helped raise, took care of her.
Survivors include her nine children; Glenda Woodsmall of Burlington, Doug (Cyndy) Woodsmall of Burlington, Dennis Woodsmall of Keswick, Iowa, Gary David Woodsmall of Monroe, Dale (Anetia) Woodsmall of Washington, Donnie Woodsmall of Sigourney, Delbert (JoAnn) Woodsmall of Washington, Glen (Rhonda) Woodsmall of Salem and Danny Woodsmall of Arkansas and 126 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzel; her parents; one sister Opal Cantril and four brothers; Gilbert Milks, Kenny Milks, Clifford Milks and James Milks.
The funeral service for Mrs. Woodsmall will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Elliott Chapel, New London with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will follow at Burge Cemetery, New London. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
