Nora Dickel
January 27, 1923 - August 20, 2019

FRYTOWN - Nora Elizabeth Dickel was born January 27, 1923 in Haven, Kansas, the daughter of Harvey J. and Elizabeth (Yoder) Miller. Her family moved to the Kalona community in 1928. She graduated from Center High School in 1941. On July 15, 1943, Nora was united in marriage to Cleo Dickel at her parents home in rural Frytown. They made their home in Frytown where Nora did house keeping in Iowa City and worked at Country Lane Eggs for 10 years. She was a member of the East Union Mennonite Church where she was active in WMSC. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and quilting. Nora passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 96 years.
Nora is survived by a son Keith (Cindy) Dickel of Frytown; 2 daughters: Carol (Rex Watson) Springer of Ames, Joanne Miller of Iowa City; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cleo in 2014, a grandson Jared Tadlock, 2 brothers: Enos Miller, Daniel Miller; and 6 sisters: Elsie Miller, Fannie Doolin, Mattie Bontrager, Anna Mae Hartzler, Bertha Wenger and an infant.


Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the East Union Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Pastor Joel Beachy will officiate. Burial will be in the East Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM on Friday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for East Union Mennonite Church and Hospice Compassus. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is caring for Nora and her family.
