"Dear Stephanie, Susie, Stacy & Susie: When my mom called and shared the news of Uncle Louie's death, the 1st 2 things entered my mind; he'd not eat another kolach again and seeing him when I was visiting mom. Last few visits were at Tama casino's buffet lunch on Thursdays. He was sharing about the losing sight in one eye. Another memory is when I owned a house on 12th Ave in Marshalltown and had a contract with Section 8. They requested the house to be rewired and your dad did the job. Louis J. Kunch, 93, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2019, at St. Francis of Assisi - St. Henry Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a 5:30 p.m. Rosary Service, Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Louis J. Kunch was born May 9, 1926, to William and Emma (Chaska) Kunch in Clutier, IA. During WWII, he proudly served his country in the U.S Army. In 1951, Louis married to Kathleen Konicek in Tama County, and were later divorced. He was married to Mildred Liebus in Las Vegas during the early 1980's, who later preceded him in death. Louis was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church in Marshalltown and a longtime member of the UAW. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, mechanical projects, and going to polka concerts. Louis was united in marriage to Mabel Pollack in 2008, at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Marshalltown.
Louis will be missed by his children: Stephanie (James) Taylor of Bentonville, AR, Susan Bacon of Toledo, IA, Sandra (Dave) Rask of Las Vegas, NV, and Stacy (Katie) Kunch of Marshalltown; three stepchildren; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mabel Kunch; two grandchildren: Laura Leber and Kelly Ziegler; his siblings, Albie Kunch in infancy, Harry Kunch, Bill Kunch, Cyril Kunch, and Mary Kirkman; and a nephew, Dennis Plum.

"Dear Family, I first met Louis when he had a house on Larkfield court, before he and Mabel each sold their homes and marred , moving into their new home further down the street from me on Rolling Meadows. Upon visiting with Louis, I found he was from Clutier, Iowa and had known my father and gone hunting with him and to movies with dad and his sisters in their young adult life. We were so thrilled to find each other from Clutier, myself especially to hear stories of my dad and he in youth! I saw him in church on Saturday nights, gave him a ride home several times, and also joined he and his family for dinner after church. Louis was a kind and gentle man, and always would stop for a hug and visit when I saw him! I saw miss him, and am so sorry for your loss! He was one of the Great ones?? I can still see that twinkle in his eyes and wonderful smile on his face ??"
"Lewis Kunch built and owned the Phillips 66 Service Station in Cottonwood, Arizona for years.... When I was a kid in elementary school Mr. Kunch would let my brother and I stay in his service station while waiting for the school bus during the winter time when it was so cold outside..I went to school and was in the same grades with his daughter Stephanie.. My dad really thought a lot of Mr. Kunch and his mechanical ability...This was the newest station in town. Rest in Peace,.. Louis!!!"
