August 11, 1946 - August 23, 2019

Barbara Halverson, 73, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Friday, August 23, 2019, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown, surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at St. Francis of Assisi - St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2019, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Father Alan Dietzenbach will be officiating. Barbara was born on August 11, 1946, to Edward and Helen (Collins) Halverson in Marshalltown. She graduated from Le Grand High School. Barbara married Richard Dougherty, who were later divorced. To this union they had two children, Tanya and Michelle. She spent most of her career working as a secretary at Raymon Donco Air Distribution Equipment, where her coworkers became like family to her. Barbara was a hard worker and was employed at several other jobs throughout her life, some at the same time. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Barbara enjoyed gardening, primarily tomatoes which she would sell at farmer's markets in Ames, nature in general, birdwatching, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her daughters, Tanya (Scott) Case and Michelle (Steve) May, both of Marshalltown; and two grandchildren: Aaron (Sierra Winters) Case and Justin (Autumn Rutledge) Case, both of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Helen Halverson; and several aunts and uncles.
