Evelyn (Coffey) O'Malley Johnson, of Whitehall, Michigan passed away on June 29, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born November 16, 1927, in Hickman, Kentucky to Beulah (Cole) and Alex Coffey. She was the oldest of four children. An orphan by the time she was 7 years old, Evelyn's tenacious personality served her well through every hardship life handed her. As a teen, Evelyn traveled to Muskegon, Michigan to accomplish "a plan", working towards a better life, and making arrangements to bring her siblings north. She married Robert O'Malley Jr. on January 3, 1948. Together they started O'Malley's Pest Control, a successful business, which is still owned and operated by the O'Malley family. Robert and Evelyn were active in the Masonic Temple, and the Shriner's. Robert preceded her in death on August 27, 1976. Evelyn married Howard A. Johnson on January 29, 1983 and they enjoyed many happy years together. They shared a love for travel, sailing, photography, art, books and music. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2001. Evelyn had been active in the Art's Guild, Doin Dozen Club, and the Democratic Party. The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice and her additional care givers- Shannon and Barb. Known for her happy spirit, kindness and artistic talents, Evelyn leaves behind many dear friends & family, including her son, Robert (Laurel) O'Malley III; her daughters, Kathy (Bill) Cleveland, Debra Chris (Don) Dykema, Brenda (Roy) Ayala, Jane (Rod) Tozer; step sons, Don (Penny) Johnson and Greg Johnson; her grandchildren, Matthew O'Malley, Marc (Amber) O'Malley, Rob (Tiffany) O'Malley, Alicia Carey Bracey, Alex (Deb) Ayala, Marcie (Jim) Mosier, Amanda (David) Engblade, Katie (Keith) Nelson and Ben (Anne) Tozer; 11 great grandchildren; her brother, Richard Coffey and her sister & brother-in-law, Geri & Ray Grennan. Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Lyndon Coffey and grandson, Nate Carey.
SERVICE
Thursday, July 5, 2018, 1:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon. Interment in Mona View Cemetery.
