Jean Schweifler
June 4, 1927 - July 17, 2015

Jean Winifred Schweifler, age 88, passed away Friday July 17, 2015 at Poppen House after a short illness. She left surrounded by her children and grandchildren on a wave of prayer, laughter and love. She was born June 4, 1927 in Evansville, Indiana to Arthur and Tena (Jannenga) VanPelt. She married Anthony Walter(Tony) Schweifler on September 6, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio. Tony preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by daughter Connie, son Thomas, granddaughter Melissa Stone, sister Leone Hazekamp, brother Arthur VanPelt. She is survived by her lifetime best friend and twin sister, Shirley Boyer, 3 daughters: Cindy Stone of Muskegon, Susan (Charlie) Stark of Muskegon, Rebecca (Jeff) Tiemeyer of Grand Rapids, 4 sons: Edward Schweifler of Lansing, Jeffrey (Kim Varadi) Schweifler of Lansing, Robert (Diana) Schweifler of Muskegon, and Brian Schweifler of Muskegon; grandchildren, Joshua Schweifler, Jessie & Sonja Schweifler, Anthony (Daina) Stone, Charles A Stark, Tracy, Matthew and Nathan Tiemeyer; great granddaughters McKenna, Kyleigh and Josephine Stone and great grandson, Landon Schweifler, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean re-entered the workforce once all of her children were in school, and as a successful business woman and entrepreneur, received national recognition awards in sales and customer service.She was a longtime member of Calvary Church where she actively volunteered for many years. Throughout life her many roles included seamstress, crafter, mentor, chef, and baker known for her legendary rolls: she loved to read and instilled a love for reading in her children and grandchildren. She unflaggingly encouraged independence, responsibility and a never-quit attitude in her children.

There will be Memorial Service 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Calvary Church located at 1070 S. Quarterline Rd. Muskegon, MI 49442. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCircles/PACE 560 Seminole Rd Muskegon MI 49444 or Poppen House of Harbor Hospice.
