In loving memory of

Marvin L. Metz
March 6, 1967 - October 23, 2012

Marvin Fuzzy Metz was a funny, outgoing, and caring guy, who loved Harley motorcycles and the adventure of the open road. Most of all, however, he loved his family and his friends, and they always came first in his life. Marvs friendly smile, outgoing personality, and kind heart will be lovingly remembered by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Marvin Jr. was born on March 6, 1967, to proud parents Marvin and Vivian (Ellcey) Metz. He was their youngest child, and grew up with older sisters Linda and Theresa. The Metz family lived in Muskegon, Michigan, where Marvin Sr. earned a living as a truck driver and musician. As a boy, Marv enjoyed outdoor sports, especially hunting, fishing, rodeos, and playing horseshoes. Friendly and outgoing, Marv made friends easily, and often went camping with his buddies. Marvs lifelong love of motorcycles started at an early age at first he rode mini-bikes, as he grew older gradually working his way up to larger and more powerful machines.

After finishing school, Marv went on to the construction industry. Marv was a natural handyman, and loved to tinker with machinery. After learning the trade, Marv branched out to become a self-employed contractor, which he did for 25 years.

Starting in 1997, Marv was delighted to become the father of three wonderful daughters: Breanna, Alannah, and Liberty. Marv loved being a father, and his family always came first. He and his family made many happy memories camping in their motorhome, and took trips to Sturgis, Tahquamenon Falls, Mackinac Island, and Traverse City. In his free time, Marv enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his vegetable garden. He was also an avid motorcyclist, and jumped on his Harley every chance he got.

On October 31, 2009 Halloween night Marv met the woman who would be the love of his life: Sharia Green. For both Marv and Sharia, it was love at first sight. Their first date was a motorcycle ride and a Scribs pizza, and they never looked back. The happy couple was married on September 29, 2012, on an LST 393 ship in Muskegon, Michigan. Lots of family and friends attended the celebration, and after the ceremony Sharias parents renewed their own wedding vows.

Marv and Sharia had bought a house of their own, which Marv was remodeling (a work in progress). Although Marv had hobbies of his own, more than hobbies and interests his life was defined by his relationships with other people, by his many friends: Rusty, Frank Elliot, Terry "Pops" Russell, Willie Koedyker, Shaggy, and Stickboy (who knew Marv as Fuzzy); his in-laws, Dale and Karon Green, whom Marv called Mr. and Mrs. G; his rodeo buddies, Chuck and Angie, Damon, and Johnboy; his many friends from the Outriders Motorcycle Club; and his good friend, Peter B., who passed away in 2008. Marv was truly a lucky man to have so many good friends, as well as his beloved companion, Sharia, and they in turn were lucky to have a friend like Marv.

Helpful and outgoing, caring and mellow, Marv was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and family members.

Marvin L. Fuzzy Metz Jr. died on October 23, 2012, at the age of 45. Marvs family includes his wife, Sharia; his mother, Vivian Metz of Muskegon; his daughters, Breanna Metz, Alannah Metz, and Liberty Metz, all of Muskegon; his sisters, Theresa (Tim) Stressman of Muskegon and Linda (Steve) Updyke of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews; his special brothers, Chip Green of Muskegon and Greg McDonnell of Holton; and many close friends.
