Bonnie was born April 22, 1923 in rural Ponca, NE to Grover and Della (Johnson) Curry. She attended the Powder Creek School and graduated from Ponca High School. Bonnie's family believed strongly in education, so she attended Wayne State College to become a teacher like her mother and sisters. She taught in the Silver Creek District #19 School for 5 years. One Christmas Eve Bonnie went to a dance in the Cottonwood Dance Hall and met Leonard Hageman. He was leaving the next day for the service, so they corresponded for two years. Bonnie and Leonard were married June 19, 1946. She became a member of the United Methodist Church at that time. They had one son, Stan, in 1948. They farmed some land on the river bottom owned by John Newton for a couple of years, then bought the Dixon County Poor Farm west of Ponca. That farm remained the family home for the rest of their lives. Leonard passed away in 1991. Bonnie moved to the Elms Health Care Center in March, 2009, where she received excellent care until her death.

Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was famous for her great cooking and hospitality. Any visitor to her home could count on an entire meal materializing from nowhere. There were always cinnamon rolls with orange frosting or buckets of frozen cookies. She was the 'matriarch" of the Curry family, remembering everyone with a birthday card and sharing the family news.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Stan (Nancy) of Wausa, NE; grandchildren, Travis, (Susan) and baby Andrew of Grand Island, NE, Jarrod of Houston, TX, Ross of Omaha, NE, and Kaetlyn of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Don (Sandra) Curry of LeMars, IA; brothers-in-law Melvin Magnuson of Wayne, NE, Phil (Alice) Hageman of Sioux City, IA, and Vic Hildebrand of Des Moines, IA; sister-in-law, Ferris Conrad of Sioux City, IA; many well-loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Joye Magnuson and Mardell (Harry) Powers; brothers, Darrel (Betty) Curry, Gurn (Donna) Curry; brothers-in-law, Clayton Conrad and Earl Gleason; sisters-in-law, Pearl Hageman-Gleason-Hildebrand and Phyllis Hageman; and nephew, D. Thomas Curry.

"Aunt Bonnie was a very strong and beautiful woman. She took great pride in her cooking and even my children talk about their favorite meals at Aunt Bonnie's house...her pork cutlets for dinner and sausage patties with pancakes for breakfast. We'll all miss her but are happy that she and Uncle Leonard can once again dance together in paradise...God Bless You Aunt Bonnie!"
