Troy Dennis VanderStelt

Troy Dennis VanderStelt, age 33, died tragically on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. Troy was born September 24, 1974 to C. Dennis and Carole J. (Simantz) VanderStelt in Muskegon. He was a lifelong resident of the area. On December 17, 2004, he married Bridget A. Stratton Peterson. Troy was employed as a real estate agent at Nexes Realty. Troy was a man who was strong of will and strong of heart. He lived his life according to the tenets established by a strong Christian faith. He was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church where he was youth group leader. Troy's family was his life, yet, his devotion to his friends, community, and even to complete strangers, was something that left all who knew him in awe. He loved the outdoors, athletics, and working out at the Omni. The family Troy leaves behind will rally and will become closer. That family includes his wife, Bridget; four children, Matthew Peterson (16), Lainey Peterson (14), Corbin Troy VanderStelt (2 .5), and Ava Rose VanderStelt (18 mos.); his father and mother, Dennis and Carole VanderStelt of Norton Shores; his grandmother, Martie VanderStelt of Muskegon; 2 brothers, Todd (Andrea) VanderStelt of St. Joseph and Trent (Lori) VanderStelt of Cincinnati, OH; mother-in-law, Judy VanArman of Fremont; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary (Jody) Stratton of Shelby, Eric Stratton of Fremont, Brianna (Ted) DeBlake of Fremont, Scott Stratton of Fremont, Mason (Renee) Stratton of Three Rivers, and Brittany VanArman of Three Rivers; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Troy was preceded in death by grandparents, Clarence VanderStelt, and Florence and Frank Simantz. A CELEBRATION of Troy's life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Forest Park Covenant Church, 3815 Henry, with Rev. Russell Carlson officiating. VISITATION at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday. Contributions in memory of Troy may be made to the Troy VanderStelt Scholarship Trust, c/o Community Shores Bank, 1030 W. Norton Ave., Muskegon, MI 49441. Troy's family would appreciate any written notes, pictures, or stories of him that will be used to create a memory book (in written and picture form) for Corbin and Ava. Please feel free to leave these items at the funeral home on Sunday or at church on Monday.
