In loving memory of

Sharon Kay Lamb
November 7, 1952 - February 21, 2008

Free spirited, loving with a wonderful sense of humor, Sharon Sherri Lambs personality shone like a beacon bright and dazzling for all to see. Her outgoing nature and delightful smile could light up any room and won her many friends. Smart and funny, Sherri always put her family above all else.

The 1950s marked a quieter, more stable time in American history. It was a good time to grow up in America, and because of the Baby Boom, there were plenty of children roaming the neighborhoods and filling the schools. Sharon Kay Wright was among them. Born in Muskegon, Michigan, on November 7, 1952, she was the middle of three children to Clifford and Virginia (Lockhart) Wright. Sherri had an older sister, Sheila, and younger brother, Robert.

The couple both worked outside the home to provide for their family; Clifford worked at Muskegon Piston Ring while Virginia worked at Howmet and cared for the children. The Wrights made their home on East Broadway, which was close to Phillips Elementary School, where Sherri would begin her academic career. They later moved to Dalton Township, where she continued her education in the Reeths-Puffer schools. Sherri was pretty much a tomboy growing up and kept her mother on her toes, especially when she climbed tall trees or got on the roof of the house. One time, her mother had to climb the TV antenna to the roof to get her down.

When Sherri was 15, she met a cute 18 year old boy named Danny Shafer at the local McDonalds, which was a regular hangout for Muskegon teens. The two dated for some time before Sherri became pregnant, and they, along with their parents, felt it was right for them to get married. After saying I do, the young couple settled into married life together in Muskegon, where Danny worked at Muskegon Piston Ring. Sherri left school shortly after marrying, and she and Danny became proud parents of a daughter they named Kimberly, in 1969. Two years later, they welcomed the birth of their second daughter, Karen, in 1971. Sherri was a stay-at-home mom for a while, but then took a job at Kersco and later became a waitress at Tohado House to help support their family. After only five years, Sherri and Dannys marriage ended in divorce.

Some time later, Sherri met Les Thompson and they began dating. Sherri soon found herself pregnant and their daughter, Brandie was born in 1976. The couple decided to marry shortly after Brandie was born, but it only lasted for 18 months. Sherri and her girls then went to live in Twin Lakes, where they all attended school. As a single mother, Sherri worked very hard to provide well for her girls. She first worked at Johnson Technology, where she was a proud member of the union and stood strong for what she believed in. Meanwhile, Sherri also worked at Alibi Bar in Twin Lake. After leaving Johnson Tech, she took a job as an Inspector at SPX on the assembly line for the next 8 years. Later on, Sherri became a receptionist at Bonaes for a while before going to City Side Hair. This was a job truly fit for Sherris outgoing personality for she got to met and greet people all day.

Sherri was a fun-loving lady who had a dazzling personality that endeared everyone to her. People she met always walked away with a smile because of her great humor and kind heart. Sherri was a real people person and enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. She enjoyed going to Parties at In the Park in downtown Muskegon, and summer concerts at Muskegon Summer Celebration. Sherri also liked playing cards and going to casinos. While relaxing, she was known to have a few beers and they were usually Miller Lite.

Over the years Sherri dated some and had a few relationships. In 1988 she finally found someone who made her complete. A friend set her up on a blind date with Jack Lamb. Little did the friend know that Sherri already knew Jack because he was the best man at her first wedding 20 years earlier. Come to find out, he was in fact the best man for her! They soon moved in together, and after 6 years, they decided to tie the knot and were married on a fun trip to Las Vegas.

The couple made their home in Laketon Township, where Sherri fell into her usual routines. A creature of habit, she enjoyed pizza every Friday night, chicken on Sundays and always knew when her favorite TV shows were on. Sherri also enjoyed just sitting on the back deck, while enjoying the view around her and sipping a cold beer. Above all else, Sherris happiest moments always involved the time she spent with her daughters and precious grandchildren. She loved being a doting grandmother to her ten grandkids, who affectionately called her Grandma Spooky because her Halloween costumes were always over the top. Because of her great sense of humor, her family had to laugh when Sherri sent them a card, and she absent-mindedly put the wrong card in the envelope. For instance, her sister received a sympathy card for her birthday!

In November of 2006, Sherri was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery and received treatment at the University of Michigan. Although she battled this disease with all her might and truly wanted to be a success story, the cancer had spread throughout her body and was just too much to overcome. Sadly, Sherri lost her courageous battle on Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the age of 55, and died surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Sherri truly knew how to enjoy, cherish and celebrate every moment that life had to offer. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her kindness, sense of humor and passion for life.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Jack; 3 daughters: Kimberly (Timothy) Russo of Kent City, Karen (Joseph) Buckingham of Norton Shores & Brandie Zietlow of Muskegon; 2 step-children, Dawn (Jeff) Knowlton of Whitehall & Derrick Lamb of Muskegon; 1 sister, Sheila (Bill Sipmann) Smith of Muskegon; 1 brother, Robert (Patricia) Wright of Holton; 1 aunt, Betty Yonkers of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren & her beloved dog, Harley.
