Mr. Richard I. Archambault, age 78, went to be with his Lord at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday July 7, 2007 after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was born November 30, 1928 in Muskegon Heights to Archie and Hazel (Ottman) Archambault and was a life resident of this area. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a 50 year member of Wolf Lake Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, and youth leader. Richard was employed for 29 years at E.H. Sheldon Co., and 15 years at Amstore before retiring in 1993. He enjoyed his family, bowling, fishing, and watching his grandchildren participate in sports. He was also a big Oakridge fan. On January 3, 1953 he married Delores Arent in Benton Harbor, MI. SURVIVORS include is wife of 54 years, Delores; 2 sons, Randy (Cherie) Archambault of Kalamazoo, Gary (Peggy) Archambault of Muskegon; 1 daughter, Cindy (Walt) Bowen of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren, April (Jeremiah) Kooiman of OH, Amy (Joel) Ruiter, Sarah (Jim) Merrill, Shelby (Ken) Klinger, Chevonne, Clayton, Abigail Archambault, all of Muskegon, Adam (fiancee' Samantha) Archambault of Kalamazoo, Autumn Archambault of MN, Chase Burtch of Kalamazoo; 5 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Hannah, and Jonathan Ruiter, Zoe Kooiman, and soon expected Peyton Lee Merrill; 1 brother, Floyd (Ann) Archambault; 1 sister, Joyce (Carl) Bogue; 1 brother-in-law, Wayne Arent; several nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Russell, Walter, Archie, and Robert; 4 sisters, Mary, Dorothy, Lois, and Verna. SERVICES will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with Rev. Burt C. Wachter officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION at the funeral home will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday.
