Mr. George Melcher, age 79, and Mrs. Dorothy Melcher, age 78, died together at home on Sunday, August 5, 2001 in Grand Haven, MI.

George was born on April 14, 1922 to Wilhelm & Gertrude Munch Melcher in Grand Haven, MI. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during WWII. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, camping, fishing & mechanical work on VW dune-buggies.

Dorothy was born on February 5, 1923 to William & Ella Charlotte Hess Thompson in Ludington, MI. She spent her time with arts & crafts, doll collecting, crocheting, fishing & camping. She also enjoyed baking & cooking.

In 1956 the Melchers were united in marriage in Angola, IN.

SURVIVORS

Mr. Melcher is survived by a son, Gerald Lora Melcher of Grand Haven; 2 daughters, Georgia Kurt Gillespie of Grand Haven Twp. & Pamela Kay Melcher of Grand Haven; 6 grand-children: Jodi, Jon, Clint, P.J., John & Angela; 7 great grandchildren: Audrey, Tyler, Doug, Tyler, Megan, Darek & Molly as well as by a sister, Ruth Jack Buckner of Grand Haven Twp. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Chuck & Bill; 4 sisters, Angeline, Gertrude, Margarette & June.

Mrs. Melcher is survived by 2 sons, Stephen Linda Brifnek of Crockery Twp. & David Beverly Brifnek of Grand Haven Twp.; 1 daughter,

Louella Robert Start of Grand Haven Twp.; 5 grandchildren: Tammy Wentzloff, Anna, Darlene, Tracy, Anton Michelle Fisher, Jr; 4 great grandchildren: Travis, Stephanie, Ashley & Wyatt; 3 sisters, Katherine Chesbro of Grand Rapids, Monesia Spinner of Grand Haven & her half-sister, Linda Lincoln Sutton & by her half-brother, Larry Carol Thompson of grand Haven Twp. She was preceded in death by her parents & brothers, Jack & William Thompson.

SERVICE

Thursday, August 9, 2001, 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Phil Baerwolf officiating. Interment at Lake Forest Cemetery with Veterans Military Rites by the American Legion Post #2326.

VISITATION

Wednesday, 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home.
