In loving memory of

Gloria D. Thompson
July 27, 1934 - September 2, 2019

Gloria Delcena (Smith) Thompson ( better known as "G", Mom, Grandma, Grandmommy, Aunt Gloria and Sister T) was born on July 27, 1934 in Prospect Jamaica. She was the youngest child of George and Bertha Smith. She grew up in St. Elizabeth parish and later moved to Kingston Jamaica. It was in Kingston in her early 20's that Gloria committed her life to Jesus. She began attending the Plymouth Brethren meeting on Beechwood Ave where she eventually met and married John Thompson in 1959.

Second only to her love for the Lord was Gloria's love for her family. Her greatest joy came from being a wife, mother and grandmother - not only to her four biological children, but to a host of children she "adopted". Her smile, fun-loving spirit, warm hugs and tenderness made her so attractive that many claimed her as their own.

Gloria had a stroke in 2009 which led to various health challenges. Despite this, she was determined to celebrate 60 years of marriage with her husband on July 4th and her 85th birthday on July 27th. Gloria's health declined quickly and she went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2019.

Gloria leaves behind John, her husband, her four children, Paulette, Ruth, John Jr. and Rose, 2 sons-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-granddaughters, her eldest sister Hermine, 2 older brothers (Orville and Laxley) and her dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and adopted family.
