James A. Housel
August 30, 1947 - September 2, 2019

James A. Housel, age 72 of Venice, FL passed away September 2, 2019.

He was born August 30, 1947 to William and Mary Housel. Jim served 3 years in the US Navy, stationed in Iceland and on the U.S.S. Cascade in Newport, RI as an Electronics Technician. Upon return from the service, he was employed with RCA Corporation in Somerville, NJ as an Electronics Technician, where he met and married his wife Laura.

Jim was transferred to RCA in Palm Beach Gardens, FL where he worked for 2 ½ years as an Equipment Designer until returning to NJ in 1982. He then worked for Siemens Corporation, AT&T Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies as an Engineering Consultant and holds 2 US patents in antenna design. Jim built their home in Sandy Ridge, Delaware Township, NJ where he and Laura resided 23 years before returning to Venice, FL in 2006.

He enjoyed wood-working, making furniture for their home and working out in the yard. Earlier hobbies included hunting, fishing, fly tying, including making his own surf rods for fishing. Since retiring to Venice, he and his wife enjoyed biking together along the intra-coastal waterway and the Legacy Trail.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William R. Housel.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Housel; his in-laws, Glenn E. and Patricia B. Zingler; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Hoffman and Karen Ranallo; brother-in-law, Timothy Hoffman; nephews, Jarret Hoffman and Justin Hoffman; several cousins and many close friends.
