In loving memory of

Alton Louis Benner
June 25, 1935 - September 6, 2019

Alton Louis Benner, 84, of Manchaca, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sept 6, 2019. He was at home with his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Benner.

Alton was born in Pilot Knob, Texas, on June 25, 1935. He was the firstborn of Hattie and Herbert Benner, and was joined soon after by younger sister Helen Benner Johnson.
On June 1, 1957, he married his soulmate, Nancy Hill. They had 2 children, Greg Benner and Shara Benner Dennis. He wanted his life to be an example of how to be a good husband and father by loving his wife as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for her.
He enjoyed his career at Capitol Aggregates and six years on the Travis County Appraisal Review Board, and in retirement he and Nancy spent time traveling, eventually seeing all 50 states. They have always been active in their church, Faith Assembly of God in Buda, and square dance clubs for 33 years.

Alton is survived by his wife, Nancy; children Greg Benner and wife Donna, and Shara Benner Dennis and husband Auburn; grandchildren Dawn Ashley Harris and husband Jonathan, Amber Harris and husband Todd, Cory Dennis and wife Michelle, and Alana Kamp; great-granddaughter Lyla Kamp; sister Helen Johnson; many nieces and nephews, and many extended family and friends.

If Nancy had to describe him in one word, it would be: "selfless."

Visitation from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday Sept 8, 2019, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin Tx 78745. Graveside services will be held for family and close friends 10am on Monday Sept 9, 2019, at Onion Creek Memorial Park.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cal Farley Boys Ranch.
