Marvel L. Smith

Marvel L. Smith, 87, of Burlington, died at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Great River Klein Center.
Born December 16, 1931 in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter of Charles and Eva (Dyer) Chubb. She married Carl Smith on January 2, 1950 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Burlington, IA. He died May 24, 1991.
Marvel graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1949.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish- SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacquelynn (Tom) Kay of Downers Grove, IL and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Terry Smith of New Providence, IA and Daniel Smith of Lincoln, NE; two sisters, Betty Fry and Marilyn Nichols; and two brothers, Charles Roy Chubb and Thomas Chubb.
The mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 Saturday, September, 14th at Divine Mercy Parish- SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church. Father Dan Dorau will be the celebrant. The Des Moines County Resurrection Choir will provide music. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 14th at Lunning Chapel.
