James Edgar Wills
August 15, 1929 - September 8, 2019

James Edgar Wills, 90, of Burlington, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the Great River Hospice House.
Born August 15, 1929 in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Horace Edgar and Virginia Lou (Finke) Wills. He married Shirley Ann Bohle October 17, 1954 in Burlington.
James graduated from Burlington High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as PVT 1st Class. He worked as an engineer for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 38 years until his retirement in 1991.
He was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ.
He was a member of Des Moines Lodge #1 A.F. & A.M., Kaaba Shrine Temple, 32° Mason, and the Iowa- Illinois Amateur Radio Club.
He was a Chicago Cubs fan, Minnesota Vikings fan and animal lover, especially his boxers. He loved time spent with family.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wills of Burlington; two daughters, Vicki K. (Jim) Stinemates of West Burlington and Tamra D. Darnall of Burlington; two granddaughters, Bailey Darnall and Whitney (Chris) Beals; one great-granddaughter, Veda Beals; and one brother, Charles Wills of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother.
The funeral service for Mr. Wills will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12th at Lunning Chapel. Rev. Peggy Stott will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11th at Lunning Chapel with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice, Des Moines County Humane Society or St. Luke United Church of Christ.
