Bertha Ransom
December 29, 1932 - September 9, 2019

Bertha, a native of Danville Ky., was born December 29, 1932. She is the daughter of Albert and Bertha Mills. She attended grade schools #56 and #26. She graduated from Crispus Attucks High, School here in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Bertha was baptized at the age of twelve at New Bethel Baptist Church under Rev. George Baltimore. She married Herman Washington Sr. in 1952. From that union they were blessed with five sons. Herman Washington Jr. who precede her in death, (Dorothy), Michael Washington Sr. (Ginny), David Washington who preceded her in death (Joyce), Maurice Washington (Sherry) and Ronald Washington (Shelia). In July 1982 she married Frank S. Ransom. Bertha retired from Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) in 1994 where she worked for 20 years.
Bertha was a member off the Twilight Club and the Classic Ladies Social Club. She joined Christ Emmanuel Missionary and served as the secretary of the Missionary. In her later years she was unable to drive and began attending Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, Inc. where she joined. Bertha departed this life on Monday, September 9, 2019 at the age of eighty-six years. She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life:
Daughters, Patricia Jackson-Thompson, Margo R. Berry (Skip) and B. Denise Owens (Michael). Grandchildren: Mercier Carter, Tyler Berry, Michael Washington Jr. (Annie), Deon Mense, Christopher Jakes (Cassandra), Gloria Jakes, Sean Washington, Tronika Bills (Mike), Sherron Washington, Ronald Washington Jr. Sherrise Hunt, Corian Washington (Tash), many great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

God sent His angels to usher Mom up into His presence, she is free from pain, worries and tears in heaven!! I enjoyed spending time with her over the past four years, she always had something funny or interesting to share. Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again!! I love you all very much!! Hugs!!
