In loving memory of

Lois M. Hipps
November 25, 1934 - September 10, 2019

Lois Mary Hipps, 84, of Winona, passed away with her family by her side Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Sugar Loaf Assisted Living. She was born on November 25, 1934 to Harold and Evelyn (Haave) Seeling. After high school Lois attended Rochester School of Nursing, served an internship in Chicago, worked as a nurse in Florida, then returned home to serve her community working at Winona Health. There she worked for 32 years and touched numerous lives with her skill, caring and kindness. She loved her work. Lois enjoyed reading, bird watching, bowling, crafting, John Wayne movies, and TV mysteries like "Perry Mason" and "Murder, She Wrote". But she loved spending time with her family more than anything.
She was a member of Pleasant Valley Church and volunteered with Red Cross blood drives and MCCL. Lois was a devoted Christian with a very strong faith. She reflected the light of Christ beautifully, and believed in the power of prayer.
She traveled extensively, and the trips out west were by far her favorites; there was hardly a flower, animal or highway sign that wasn't fair game for her camera lens.
She loved music, enjoyed musical theater, loved to sing, and had a wonderful variety of albums.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Hipps Jacobson, Kristine (Matthew Jaramillo) Hipps, and Thomas Hipps; granddaughter, Jessica (Blake) Darst; great-grandchildren, Liam and Sunny; siblings, Richard Seeling, Jeanne (Ken) Hubbard, and Carole Tschumper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Robert Jacobson; brother-in-law, Keith Tschumper; sisters-in-law, Betty, Arlene, and Helen Seeling; and niece, Lori Hubbard Jewell.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2019 at Pleasant Valley Church with Rev. Joe McConkey officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Lois will be laid to rest next to her parents in a private ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery. Please leave a memory of Lois and view her video tribute when it becomes available at www.hofffuneral.com. Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview, is assisting the family.

"Lois was a huge part of my life. Tom and I quickly became friends in 1st grade on the playground and then had 2nd grade together. We had a bond that would never be broken. Lois became my second Mom. Always there to help and give advice and make us laugh. She always was smiling and happy and never let things get her down. Just a beautiful person to have in your life. Kathy and Kristine became Sisters to me. Giving Tom and I a blueprint of how to get through school and the rough teen years. Just a great family as a whole. Lois will be missed but will always be with us in our memories and hearts. Today will for sure be a celebration of life. A good life lived the right way. Thanks Lous for being there for us."

"I remember Lois in the late 1968 when I was just starting to work at Community Memorial Hospital & she worked on 2North. Always a professional & so fun to work with. She always made her job as an RN look easy. I will always have fond thoughts. My thoughts are with all the family."

""I got to know her son Tom during the short period I lived in Minnesota. Tom is a wonderful guy and a shining example of how the faith of a parent (or parents) can live on in their children. If Lois was anything like her son, the world has lost a light that shined in the darkness. God be with the family as they deal with the loss of their loved one. Tom can now boldly carry the torch that Lois passed on.""

"Having worked at CMH(now Winona Health) at some of the time Lois was a nurse there, I recall being impressed that she conveyed all that a nurse is and that is, that attention to the needs of the patient is always front and center of the nurse's mission. Family can be assured Lois was one of the best. may her soul be at rest. Joan Redig"

"I met Lois through my great friend Tom. You only had to meet her once to have a lasting memory. She radiated joy and peace and kindness and yes, it was clear to anyone in her presence she loved the Lord and that love and peacefulness shined through her onto anyone she met. A few brief meetings left a lasting impression but it was the way her son spoke of her that really allowed one to understand what a truly special person she was. Many ups and downs in her life but always happy, smiling, positive, peaceful and loving to everyone. What an incredible loss for her family. She was someone who after meeting her, you found yourself thinking "I wish I was more like that", or "what does she have or know about the secret to life that I don't have or know".... But I think we do know. It was her love and devotion to Jesus Christ. What a wonderful special person she was. She, if anyone is surely in paradise. Love to all the family and thank you for allowing me to have my few moments with such a special human being. I will always remember her with fondness, admiration and a bit of envy until I too might get to the same place spiritually that I know she was in for most of her life. And thank you for your son Tom has has been a great friend and spiritual mentor to me for 25 years. Your good works live on in your family."
