Dorothy L. Payne

Mrs. Dorothy L. Payne, 77, of Ft. Madison, IA died at 3:44 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2019 at Great River Medical Center.
Born April 25, 1942 in Aledo, IL, she was the daughter of Henry Louis and Veda Pearl (Fetters) Dagenhart. She married LeRoy Payne on November 22, 1994 in Dallas City, IL.
Dorothy worked at Schaeffer Pen, drove a school bus for Ft. Madison Schools, was a driver for Shottenkirk, Inc., and was a homemaker and companion.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband LeRoy; five sons, Mark Crutcher of Quincy, IL, Ray Crutcher of Davenport, IA, Ron Crutcher of Houston, TX, Roy Crutcher of Los Angeles, CA, and Todd Crutcher of Houston, TX; two stepsons, Faron Payne and Jay Payne both of Burlington, IA; one stepdaughter, Robin Payne of Burlington, IA; two granddaughters; one grandson; six siblings, June (Larry) Webb of Brookings, OR, Shirley Hysell of Surprise, AZ, Jim Dagenhart of Lee's Summit, MO, Mary (Bill) Willis of Novinger, MO, Nancy (Bob) Windshield of Kingman, AZ, and Noreen (Gene) Farris of Edina, MO; and sister-in-law, Sue Dagenhart; two brothers-in-law, Richard Payne and Gerald Payne both of Burlington, IA; four step sisters-in-law, Patricia Hinkel of Ottumwa, IA, Kathy Luhn of Fayetteville, AR, Donna Pacha of Washington, IA, and Janet Welder of Unionville, MO; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Cowboy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Donald Dagenhart, Linda Dagenhart Bowen, Lois Dagenhart Ausmus, and John Dagenhart; niece, Donna Jean Farris; brother-in-law, Scotty Ausmus and sister-in-law, Anna Mae Dagenhart..
The memorial service for Mrs. Payne will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24th at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Matt Pinckard will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service where family will receive friends.
According to Dorothy's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
