"I just heard of Darlene's passing. My deepest sympathy to Mike and the rest of the family. In our family photo album, there is a picture of Darlene holding me in the nursery at the hospital. Her smile is evidence of the loving welcome she gave to so many of us when we came into this world. May God bless her beautiful spirit. She and your dad are now lovingly watching over all of you. Condolences on your loss, and prayers that your many beautiful memories of your mom and dad will comfort you. Margaret Tornabane Nevius"

"So many good memories of visiting Stan and Darlene and all the kids. We could make a complete circuit in the basement on the tricycles. And Darlene always made popcorn. She was such a sweet person and always showed up at gatherings... sad ones and happy ones. It was always good to see her and she always seemed happy to see us. May the angels go out to meet her. Does anyone know what year Stan died?"

"I remember Darlene's smiling eyes and wonderful heart. When the Doyle's would arrive at your house there was continual activity, but we always were most welcome and loved by Darlene and her family. I remember the neat, little coffeepot sitting on the stove filled with coffee along with the laughter and conversations our mom's shared around the kitchen table as we played. May she rest in peace. Alec McCurdy wrote on Oct 20, 2019:

"With Grandma D being in Iowa and myself in Nebraska, most of our interactions were over the telephone and I?ll never forget how I felt during those phone calls. A family member would hand the phone off to me and I could always hear the excitement in her voice instantly with our first exchange. It put a smile on my face for our entire conversation. She was so interested in what was going on in our lives and it really taught me from a young age how to treat others around me. I?ll never forget those conversations over the phone. I love you Grandma D and will miss you very much! "
