Donna Hicks, 86 of Pacific Junction, IA, passed away October 18, 2019 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE. Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at the Bloom Senior Center in Glenwood, IA.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to the Bloom Senior Center.

Donna Mae (Halterman) Mayer Hicks, 86 of Pacific Junction, Iowa, passed away on October 18, 2019 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska.

Donna was born on November 20, 1932 in Humboldt, Nebraska, the youngest of four children of John Jefferson and Myrtle Morean (Smith) Halterman. Her family moved to live in Pacific Junction, Iowa when she was a small child. Donna completed her high school education and obtained her Associate's Degree. She retired from work as a Training Officer II at the Glenwood State School.

Donna and Loren Mayer were united in marriage in Humboldt on December 23, 1950. They were blessed with four children, Deloris Elaine, Sharon Kay, Loren Allyn, and James Wesley. Loren passed away on September 9, 1998.

Donna married her second husband, Beverly Dean Hicks, in June 2002 and were together until Dean's death on February 17, 2014.

Donna enjoyed camping and fishing, putting together puzzles, playing cards and dominoes, dancing, shopping, and having fun. She loved spending time with her family who were her pride and joy.

In addition to her husbands, Donna was preceded in death by her parents; brother John "Bud" Halterman; sister Beverly Jean Durfey; and step daughter Sandra Baker.

Donna is survived by her children, Deloris (Gene) Young of Bois D'Arc, MO, Sharon (Paul) Duysen of Papillion, NE, Allyn Mayer of Tabor, IA, and James (Suzanne) Mayer of Cape Coral, FL; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; step children, Carole Major Iverson, Marcy Schroeder, Jeannie Warren-Strunk, and Jacki Ives-Baumann; sister Shirley Turner of Pacific Junction; and other relatives and friends.
