In loving memory of

April McClurg
April 10, 1975 - October 26, 2019

April Sue Marker McClurg, 44, of Rome City, Indiana, passed away at 1:47 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at her home. Born on April 10, 1975 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Randy Marker and Kathleen (Fey) Marker.

She grew up in rural Rome City. As a child she played t-ball, was a Girl Scout and was involved in the Noble County 4-H where she showed cats and worked on arts and crafts. While attending East Noble High School, she was on the golf team and worked multiple jobs at once. In her free time, she enjoyed hanging out with her friends and being on the lake. April graduated with the Class of 1994 and attended Valparaiso University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1998.

April met Todd McClurg through her college roommate in 2004. The couple made a long distance relationship work, as she lived in Chicago and Todd lived in Indianapolis. April and Todd married on May 12, 2007 in Fort Wayne and made their home in Indianapolis. Todd's job would later relocate them to Huntertown where April was able to maintain working from home for CREA, LLC as Vice-President of Fund Management. In June of this year they moved into their dream home on Sylvan Lake.
April and Todd enjoyed relaxing vacations to the Caribbean, with April finding a new island for them to visit each time. She loved spending time with her family and adored her 11 nieces and nephews. She taught them many fun things and would teach them to always try new things. Always compassionate and charitable, she would help anyone, often carrying extra supplies in her car to give to a homeless person she might spot. April also loved animals, especially her cats! She was a founder for a feral cat program in Fort Wayne and volunteered with a group in Indianapolis. She helped rescue and save over 30 cats from a kill shelter and found them all furever homes. She definitely had a passion for animals and wouldn't hesitate to stop traffic to help ducks cross or move a turtle out of harm's way.

Caring, loving, giving, persistent and thankful were just a few ways to describe April McClurg. She was a born leader, but most of all April had a loving heart. Her smile and laughter could change a room's attitude instantly.

She is survived by her husband, Todd McClurg; parents, Randy (Beverly) Marker of Albion; mother, Kathleen Marker of Fort Wayne; sister, Kristine Pfeiffer of Fort Wayne; step-brothers Adam (Erin) Brady of Rome City and Nick Reeves of Rome City; nieces and nephews, Jerid, Megyn, Teague, Kane, Zander, Kodiak, Keifer, Kanyon, Kyzer, Simon and Maddie; and her four cats, Joe, Fiona, Ace and Benson. April was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Deloris Marker, John Fey and Darlene Beazell; uncle, Tom Fey; and cousin, Brian Fey; and her beloved cats, Oscar and Mona.

There will be a remembrance gathering and celebration of April's life at her home from 2-8 p.m., Saturday, November 9th, 2019. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Humane Society of Noble County. Arrangements with DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Visit www.
