Wayne T. Hartzell
August 17, 1932 - October 25, 2019

Wayne T. Hartzell, 87, of Burlington died Friday, October 25, 2019 at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born August 17, 1932 in Dewey County, Oklahoma he was the son of Roy V. and Irene (Krober) Hartzell. He married Naomi Odell on September 23, 1960 in Burlington, Iowa. She died May 10, 2011.
Wayne was a former pastor with the Free Methodist Church in Oklahoma. He worked as a material handler for C & E for 33 years until his retirement in 1995.
He was a 1951 graduate of Mutual High School in Mutual, Oklahoma, Central College in McPherson, Kansas and Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois.
He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, United Steel Workers, and Burlington Baptist Church.
He enjoyed carpentry, knitting latch hook rugs and word search puzzles.
Survivors include his two children, Lavada Hartzell and Levi Hartzell both of Burlington; two sisters Bonnie Hartzell of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Joyce (Lael) Simpson of Fort Worth, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Naomi, two brothers and one sister.
The funeral service for Mr. Hartzell will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 30th at Burlington Baptist Church. Pastor Kendall Adams will officiate. Interment will be in Blakeway Cemetery, rural Middletown. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
Memorials have been established for the Alzheimer's Association and Hope Haven.
