In loving memory of

Dorothy M. Bailey
January 7, 1922 - October 26, 2019

Dorothy Marie (Olsen) Bailey, 97, of Hampton, Iowa, (formerly of Aredale, Iowa), passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton.

Dorothy, the daughter of Herman and Lusetta Huntington Olsen was born on January 7, 1922, in Dows, Iowa. She grew up south of Rowan where she attended country school. She then attended Rowan High School graduating in 1939.

On January 1, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage with Lloyd Almond Bailey in Rowan. The couple made their rural home between Alexander and Rowan, where they farmed until purchasing their first farm in November 1955 by Aredale, Iowa. By then they had been blessed with four children: Karen, Harold, Linda, and Ellen. After retiring from farming in August 1983, they moved to Hampton.

Dorothy worked hard at raising four children, partnering with her husband in the farming operation and planting and nurturing a large garden to help feed her family.

Dorothy was a member of the Aredale United Methodist Church in Aredale and her hobbies were crocheting items such as blankets, bedspreads and tablecloths, playing cards and reading books. Until she left us to find her new home in heaven, she entertained us with quick and funny responses, always smiling and giggling.

Dorothy is survived by three daughters: Karen (Harry) Jungling of Bristow, Linda (John) Campbell of Hampton and Ellen (Larry) Day of Shell Rock; one daughter-in-law Judy Bailey; eight grandchildren Deanne (Tim) Winkowitsch, Dawn (Danny) Winkowitsch, Danny (Jennifer) Jungling, Jackie (Dennis) Benning, Christine (Krista) Campbell, Hope (Mick) Timmerman, Kathy Strauser, Shelly (Brian) Dix; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Donna Bailey of Leavenworth, KS; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son (Harold), a granddaughter (Stacy Day), numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a host of friends.
