In loving memory of

Karen Johnson
September 12, 1958 - October 20, 2019

A wise woman, Karen Jane Johnson (Perry), born September 12, 1958, the
youngest child to Clarence and Nancy Perry, was always filled with the fruit
of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday,
October 20, 2019.
Her spirit is carried on by her witty husband, Leland (Lee) Johnson, two
children, Tara and Jaramia Becker, of whom she proudly spoke about,
three grandchildren, two surviving siblings, three nieces and nephews, and
an extended family and friends from every walk of life.
Growing up on a dairy farm, she new the value of hard work. Raising two
children with her former husband Paul H. Becker at a young age, she
always found ways to making each moment special with what she had. She
continued to work hard throughout her life, single parenting her children,
while working full time, meeting and marrying her love, Leland Johnson,
earning her masters degree from Western Michigan University, becoming a
teacher at Reeths Puffer Middle and High School, then later a counselor at
Orchard View High School.
We are blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Karen during her 61
years, among them: you can make something out of nothing. Who knew
that with a little flour, eggs, and dried milk would make a fine muffin;
Lipstick was never done until you scrapped the bottom of the tube; Wash
the kitchen sponge, in the washing machine, instead of buying a new one;
and if you need to trim your hair, grab a pair of scissors.
She loved her essential oils and would never be found without her lavender
oil. She could often be seen outdoors: taking hikes, stopping to breath in
the fresh air and smell of trees, kayaking, riding the motorcycle with her
husband and friends, and music festivals. She loved Hallmark movies,
HGTV, and movies with talking animals. She was well read, and an all
around music lover who was well versed in many instruments. Karen
fiercely loved being with her family and dear friends, she was affectionately
known as Grammy, Nanny, AK, K-A-ron, Sister, and Mrs. Johnson.
