Julie Ann (Johnson) Davis was born May 17, 1948, in Fort Dodge, daughter of William G. and Ella (Voight) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe graduating from Rolfe High School in 1966. She worked as a secretary from 1966 until 1968 at Directory Service in Algona.
Julie married Nicholas Alexander in December of 1967. He was killed in Vietnam in November of 1968. She worked as a secretary from 1968 until 1971 at Druggists Mutual Insurance Company. Julie married Darrel Davis on October 9, 1970, in Algona. She operated a daycare in her home for 21 years making many lasting relationships with the children she cared for.
Julie enjoyed all sporting events. In earlier years she bowled twice a week and she loved to golf, she also played on a women's volleyball and softball team. Julie had a "hole-in-one" on the golf course in June of 1978 and bowled a "300" game on October 21, 1987. She also enjoyed playing card games especially 500.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving on the Ruth Altar Guild Committee and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. Julie loved to be surrounded by her family especially her grandchildren going to all their sporting and other activities. In later years she enjoyed watching birds with Darrel in their back yard.
Julie A. Davis died Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society at the age of 71.
She is survived by her husband Darrel Davis of Algona; two daughters, Laurie Long and her husband Todd of Wesley and Lisa Muller and her husband Matt of Algona; five grandchildren, McKinnley and Hunter Long, both college students in Ankeny and Ella, Drew, and Jack Muller of Algona. She is also survived by a sister, Susan Johnson of Algona; a brother, William (Betty) Johnson of Algona; a sister-in-law, Janet (Richard) Fellin of Hanlontown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Nicholas and his parents Lyle and Agnes Alexander in which she was very close to; her parents-in-law, B.O. and Doris Davis: and a special niece Angela Johnson.
