In loving memory of

Peter George Robertson
July 3, 1948 - October 21, 2019

Peter George Robertson, age 71, of Muskegon passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2019 at Mercy Hospital. Born in Chicago on July 3, 1948 to LeRoy and Marian (VanWee) Robertson, he graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids, MI and studied anthropology at Grand Valley State University. He married Laurie Baines on August 21, 1971, and together they built a wonderful life filled with road trips, eclectic music, incredible friends and family, and their greatest adventure of all: raising three daughters. After several decades working in transportation management, he changed careers and retired from the United Methodist Church of the Dunes where he enjoyed serving as the Facility Manager. An avid reader with affinity for historical, political, and biographical nonfiction, he lived his life believing that "those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it". In addition to reading, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, woodworking, model cars, college football (MSU Spartans), the Green Bay Packers, hockey and, most importantly, spending time with his family.

Peter is survived by his wife of 48 years, Laurie, his three daughters Amanda Robertson, Leah (Brad) Ott, Sarah (Michael) Westrate, and three beloved grandchildren Bryson, Maren and Gracyn. He is also survived by his brother Tom (Marilee) Robertson, his sisters Kathy Robertson and Dana Flanders, several nieces and nephews and "his" dog Maddie.

The family will host a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, November 23rd from 2pm to 5pm at Old Boys Brewhouse in Spring Lake, MI to celebrate Peter's life and legacy. Guests are invited to bring a new fiction or nonfiction book that will be donated to a local ministry in Peter's memory. Contributions can also be made in memory of Peter to Pound Buddies (www.poundbuddies.org) or the Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org).
