Raelene Amandus
April 8, 1962 - October 31, 2019

Raelene "Rae" Amandus, 57, of Fort Dodge passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 6th at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cemetery, Moorland. A Visitation and time of gathering with friends will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.
Raelene is survived by her husband Dave; sons Benjamin, Kyle, and his wife Mary; grandsons Carson and Asher Amandus of Fort Dodge; and beloved German Shepherd Sadie. Sisters Corrinn Dobmeier of Louisville, KY, and Dianne (Greg) Panzi of Harcourt; Brothers Larry (Carol) Ocenasek of Fort Dodge and Curt (Chris) Ocenasek of Ames; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Berniece Dobmeier.
Raelene Marie Dobmeier was born on April 8, 1962 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended public schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1980. She later received her Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Central Community College and was certified as a medical assistant by The American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Raelene had a caring nature, and loved to help people. She worked in health care most of her life; including Friendship Haven, Unity Point Hospital and Clinics, and most recently Unity Point Berryhill Clinic as a certified medical assistant.
Raelene was united in marriage to David Amandus on September 12, 1981. They established their home in Fort Dodge where they raised their sons Ben and Kyle. Raelene enjoyed crafts of all kinds, fishing, campfires, and starry nights; but most importantly she loved to spend time with her family; especially grandsons Carson and Asher.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
