David Allen Hinrichs
June 17, 1961 - October 30, 2019

WELLMAN - David Allen Hinrichs was born June 17, 1961 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Jene and Freda (Gordon) Hinrichs. He graduated in 1979 from Oak Park Academy in Nevada, Iowa. On June 5, 2010 David was united in marriage to Laura Norton in Mason City, Iowa. He has lived in the Wellman community for the last three years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grilling, and cheering for the Vikings. David died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his home in Wellman.
David is survived by five children: Cassie Wolinsky, Joanna Hinrichs, and Maria Hinrichs from his previous marriage to Ginger Hinrichs; Nic Hinrichs, Savanna Spieker-Azar and three step chilrden: C.J. Spieker, Erica Spieker, Zach Norton from his marriage to Laura; fifteen grandchildren; his father Jene Hinrichs; and three sisters: Ruth Griffith, Mary Nilsen and Rachel Garcia. He was preceded in death by his wife Laura and his mother Freda.
In remembrance of David there will be a "Come and Go Celebration of Life" on December 7th from 1-3 p.m. at 1146 Pelican Dr. Kalona, Ia. There will be light refreshments provided. We look forward to hearing all your fond memories shared with him.

A graveside service will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Roseville at a later date. The Powell Funeral Home in Wellman is caring for David and his family.

"David was my father. I have many fond memories with this man. He was funny and smart, and always made sure we knew we were loved. Though the years after Laura's passing were difficult for him, and I began distancing myself from his choices after realizing he had to desire change on his own, I will always love him and cherish the time we had together."
