"I have great memories of navigating the neighborhood with Erik when he was out walking Max and I was walking our feisty miniature schnauzer, Ruby. Despite being a quarter of Max's size, Ruby was convinced she was the queen of the neighborhood, which (understandably) Max took some issue with! Erik and I never got much time to chat if we had the dogs with us because we'd be too busy navigating this elaborate dance to detour up a driveway allowing the other to pass or reverse direction completely to allow the other person time to reach their own driveway. If Erik and Max were out in the yard when we passed by it was a guarantee that Erik would get a workout moving quickly to restrain Max. Otherwise, Max would race along the electric fence line barking constantly to let us know he was vigilant and no matter how much Ruby talked "smack," HE knew that he was king of the neighborhood! I hope that good memories are some consolation to Erik's family. He left us far too soon, but I hope he's back walking Max and they're both kings in their neighborhood."
