MUSCATINE, Iowa - John 'Chubber' Hines, 63, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Celebration of Life will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Boonie's on the Avenue. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family, in care of Gretchen. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com
John was born on February 12, 1956, in Garden Grove, California, the son of Robert and Laura Trout Hines. He married Kathryn Fuegen on October 1, 1983. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2009.
He retired as a plant manager for S&J Tube in Wapello. John enjoyed fishing, camping, stock car and NASCAR racing. He was a great supporter of the Special Olympics.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Gretchen Hines and husband, Nick Roupas, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Lucas Hines, of Muscatine; one grandson, Ethan Roupas; his sisters, Margaret Gray and husband, Daniel, of Muscatine, Jean Park of Winamac, Indiana, Marcia Jenkins and husband, John, of Muscatine, and Susan Manjoine and husband, Michael, of Muscatine; and his mother and father in-law, Verne and Joan Fuegen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathy; and one brother-in-law, Randall Park.
