Thomas Eugene Burnetta
July 6, 1928 - November 22, 2019

Thomas Eugene "Gene" Burnetta, retired LCDR, US Navy, age 91, of Cheltenham, PA and Somers Point, NJ died Friday, November 22, 2019 at his home in Cheltenham, surrounded by his family.

Born in Martins Ferry, OH, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (nee Howell) Burnetta. Gene is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katherine (nee O'Lone). Gene attended St. Mary Central School, Martins Ferry High School, Martins Ferry, OH, class of 1946, Miami University, Oxford, OH, Class of 1950. Gene served active duty in the Navy during the Korean War as a supply corp officer. He was employed by Sears Roebuck from 1955 to 1990 in various management positions.

In addition to his beloved wife, Katherine, he is the devoted father of Thomas Burnetta of Fort Washington, PA, Karen Burnetta of Glassboro, NJ, Brian Burnetta (Suzanne) of Ocean View, NJ, Edward Burnetta (Lisa) of Bryn Mawr, PA, Michael Burnetta (Kelly) of Doylestown, PA, and Denise Stek (Jon) of Pottstown, PA. Gene is the loving and proud Pop-Pop of Lauren, Monica (deceased), Danielle, Isabelle, Kristin, Sabrina, Christopher, Andre, Ryan, Devyn, and Kaelyn.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 from 9:30-11:00 am at St. Hilary of Poitiers Church, 820 Susquehanna Road, Rydal, PA. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene's name would be appreciated and may be sent to St. Mary Central School, 24 North Fourth Street, Martins Ferry, OH 43935 Attn: Theresa Young, Principal.
