David Charles Rusinack
June 1, 1947 - November 25, 2019

David Charles Rusinack, 72, of Sheffield, Iowa, passed away November 25, 2019, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton in Hampton. He was born June 1, 1947, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, to John F. and Mary (Horwath) Rusinack.

Dave attended country school through 8th grade and attended high school at Uniontown Area Public School, graduating in 1965. He was drafted into the United States Army serving his country as a Chief Chinook Mechanic during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1968. He then began his 44-year career with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, which later became the Union Pacific.

On June 20, 1976, he was united in marriage to Pamela Johnson in Hampton, Iowa. To this union, two children were born, Nathan and Nicole.

Dave was an avid collector of many things. His passion was always rebuilding muscle cars from the 1960-70 eras. His favorite was his 1968 Z28 Camaro. He also enjoyed going to car shows, spending time looking at each entry, and visiting with the owners. Dave started collecting pocket watches in 1968. He enjoyed visiting antique stores, looking mostly for railroad pocket watches. He also loved being a coach for Nathan's little league team, the Sheffield Braves. Dave was always active in his family's lives and was always encouraging his children in whatever activity they chose. Dave was very supportive and dedicated to all in his family.

Dave is survived by his wife Pam of Sheffield, IA, son Nathan (Steph Hensley) Rusinack of Roland, IA, daughter Nicole Rusinack of Seattle, WA, brother Mark (Judy Thomas) Johnson of Greene, IA, brother Kent (Kelly) Johnson of Woodbury, MN, brother John (Beverly) Rusinack of Hampton, IA, brother Michael Rusinack of Uniontown, PA, sister Barbara Hart of Uniontown, PA, sister Jeannine (Bill) Black of Northfield, OH, niece Cie Ann (Zach) Stien, Adelyn and Cale of Walker, IA, niece Lauren Johnson of Woodbury, MN, nephew Alex Johnson of Woodbury, MN, niece Jill Thomas of Waukee, IA, niece Julie (Andrew) Krech of Waukee, IA and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert (Bob) Rusinack, brother Ronald (Ronnie) Rusinack, father-in-law and mother-in-law C. Duane and Lois Johnson, sister-in-law Penny Johnson, godson and nephew Cale Wood Johnson and brother-in-law Pete Hart.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or charity of your choice.

The family encourages that if attending the funeral to wear a favorite racing, car, or motorcycle t-shirt.

"I have many great memories of Dave. Most of them involved cars and street racing north or south of Dumont. If his was not the fastest car he would change motors or gears to make sure his would beat you. Many of us were scared to death to race him but he always had time to help you make you car better. Just loved cars and people. He will be missed but my memories will last forever. "
